Together with the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey, YAKAY-DER, Göç-Der, the Foundation for Social and Legal Studies (TOHAV), and the Legal Aid Office Against Custodial Sexual Harassment and Rape, we organised a meeting called “Civil Society Initiative for Truth Commissions” that occurred on 23-24 July 2011 at Cezayir Meeting Venue in Istanbul.
The two-day-discussion started with a presentation on truth commissions, followed by discussions on the content, period, mandate and structure of the truth commission being demanded in Turkey.
On the second day, the road map for the future of the initiative was discussed. Overall, 54 persons from 26 CSOs participated in the event.
