The video Holding Up the Photograph by Hafiza Merkezi was exhibited at “Mobilizing Memory: Women Witnessing”, hosted by DEPO from 5 September to 3 October, 2014.

The video is compiled from the footage of face-to-face interviews carried out by Hafiza Merkezi with women whose husbands were forcibly disappeared. In the video, women whose husbands were disappeared talk about their experiences, from the moments of disappearance of their husbands and their subsequent search for them, to the social problems they've been facing as single women and their ongoing struggle for recognition.

As is known, Hafiza Merkezi works on documenting and reporting of systematic and widespread human rights violations in accordance with the international standards, focusing particularly on the documentation of forced disappearances. The collected information is available for public access in the form of an online Database on Enforced Disappearances.
