The ECHR Judgements on Enforced Disappearances
Many families of disappeared applied to the European Court of Human Rights after they exhausted domestic remedies in Turkey.
In these cases, the Court condemned Turkey many times for violating several articles of the European Convention on Human Rights including Article 2 (right to life), Article 3 (prohibition on torture), Article 5 (not to be arbitrarily detained) and Article 13 (access to domestic remedies).
These cases are paramount to document the truth about the policy of disappearances during 80’s and 90’s. You can find the Court’s judgments on enforced disappearances by clicking here.
